Gm exhaust manifolds
so its been long known that general motors 4.8,5.3,6.0 liter exhaust manifolds bolts break at the cylinder head. this becomes a problem and starts a small exhaust leak and eventually becomes a large one causing emissions issues for pollution controlled states and can actually send a inaccurate reading to the primary oxygen sensor making the computer think its using more fuel and thus not making the proper combustion in each cylinder so it either loads it with extra fuel or cuts fuel. it also lowers mpg and pulling power in trucks and sometimes its obnoxiously loud so ive been working on fixing a few of them and so here is a good video on a not so time consuming way to fix them
So the BMW 540i that i have been doing some diagnosing had a battery fail in the cold weather today these BMW battery's from the dealer are pretty expensive 200+ but there are many alternatives but with their size and location in the vehicle the battery is a little more expensive but not to bad just usually around 130-150 and then you get a usual 3 year or 5 year warranty with these batteries depending on the manufacturers of the battery so replacing on the cheap is difficult but not to bad for the do it yourselfer
also you should get you battery tested before you make any harsh decisions ive seen many batteries just need a charge overnight that went on to give many more years of service. the usual voltage for a battery in a safe range is 12.3-12.7 volts any higher is usual surface charge after charging or running, any less is usaully result of weak or faulty battery as long as your charging system is intact
Michelin Defenders are a costly tire at 128 a tire currently ust put them on the Car and i can honestly say they are great so far just driven 60 miles today after installing them and its smooth quiet ride and the grip in these icy conditions is superv
Il be writing a full review in a month to see how they perform
